Yes, Paulo, you are right!

Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself.
And no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dream.

Waiting is painful. Forgetting is painful. But not knowing which to do
is the worse kind of suffering.

The Hunger Games

WINNING WILL MAKE YOU FAMOUS. LOSING MEANS CERTAIN DEATH.

In a dark vision of the near future, a terrifying reality TV show is taking place. Twelve boys and twelve girls are forced to appear in a live event called the Hunger Games. There is only one rule:
kill or be killed.

When sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen steps forward to take her sister's place in the games, she sees it as a death sentence. But Katniss has been close to death before. For her, survival is second nature.
(Covertext)

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is truly captuaring, breathtaking and will take your sleep away!
After Katniss' voluntarily step forward she is going to the capitol with the other tribute from District 12, Peeta. He is the boy who gave her bread many years ago and kept her alive with this gesture.
Together with their mentor Haymitch and their stylists they have to work out a plan to keep Katniss and Peeta alive in the arena. They have to be unforgettable to get sponsored by the people of Panem. But who will survive this cruel game the Capitol puts on?
You won't be disappointed, but for sure you will have something to think about, after finishing this book. And I gurantee you will have the desire to start book 2 (The Hunger Games - Catching Fire) at once!

I just can say that The Hunger Games is amazing and one of the best books I have read so far.

Auch auf Deutsch erschienen unter dem Triologietitel "Die Tribute von Panem" im Oetinger Verlag. Wirklich absolut lesenswert! - auch wenn die Originalversionen letztendlich doch nicht an ihrem Sprachgehalt zu übertreffen sind ...
